Onboarding

Guided setup checklist to get your startup fully operational on Corpfy

Get Your Startup Fully Operational in Under an Hour

Corpfy Onboarding is a guided setup checklist that walks you through configuring your workspace — company profile, founder details, cap table, compliance calendar, and integrations. The step-by-step wizard reduces time-to-value and pre-fills common fields using MCA and GST data where available, so you spend time reviewing rather than typing.

Completing the full onboarding unlocks the Founder's Overview dashboard, activates your compliance calendar, populates your cap table, and connects your financial integrations — giving you a live view of your startup's health from day one.

  • MCA auto-fill: company data pre-populated from official records once CIN is entered
  • Compliance calendar auto-generated based on your incorporation date and entity type
  • Typical completion time: 45–60 minutes with all documents ready
  • Save progress at any step and return later — no need to complete in one session
  • Role-based access controls set up during onboarding — co-founders, team members, and investors each get appropriate views

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the full onboarding take? +

Most founders complete the full setup in 45–60 minutes when they have all documents ready. The MCA auto-fill feature populates most of Step 1 automatically once you enter your CIN — you only need to review and confirm. The compliance calendar is generated automatically with no manual input. Steps 5 and 6 (integrations and team access) take less than 10 minutes each. If you're missing a document, save your progress and return — there's no time limit.

What if I don't have a DIN for all founders yet? +

You can complete the rest of onboarding and add DINs later. DIN is required only for the founder profile verification step, not for the company profile or compliance calendar. To obtain a DIN, file Form DIR-3 on the MCA portal — it typically takes 1–3 business days and costs ₹500. If you're incorporating a new company, DINs are issued as part of the SPICe+ process automatically.

Can I change my onboarding details after completing setup? +

Yes. Every field set during onboarding can be updated from Company Settings at any time. The compliance calendar re-calculates automatically if you update your incorporation date or entity type. Cap table entries can be updated as you complete new share allotments or investor rounds. Role and access permissions can be modified at any time by any Admin user.

What integrations are supported during onboarding? +

Accounting: Corpfy Financial Planning (via TDL export), Corpfy Financial Planning (OAuth), Corpfy Financial Planning (OAuth). Banking: HDFC, ICICI, Axis, Kotak, SBI — bank statement CSV import or net banking API where available. CRM: Corpfy CRM (OAuth), Corpfy CRM Pipeline (OAuth). Payroll: Corpfy Banking & Treasury Payroll (API key), Corpfy HR & Payroll (API key), Corpfy HR & Payroll (OAuth). All integrations can be added or removed after onboarding from the Integrations settings page.

What access level should I give my investors and board members? +

Investors and board members should be assigned the Read-Only role. This gives them access to your KPI Dashboard, health score, compliance calendar status, and investor reports — but they cannot edit any data or access confidential documents like your full cap table details unless you explicitly share them. Board observers (non-voting) can be given Read-Only access with further restrictions on financial details if preferred. Adjust access granularity from Team Settings at any time.

Key Takeaways for Corpfy Onboarding

Correct company setup is the foundation everything else builds on — errors here create cascading problems:

A wrong registered address in your company profile propagates to ROC correspondence, GST notices, and investor documents. An incorrect date of incorporation shifts every compliance deadline. Errors in the cap table during onboarding create discrepancies that surface — at the worst possible time — in due diligence. Corpfy's MCA auto-fill minimises manual entry errors by pulling verified data directly from official records, but take 10 minutes to review every pre-filled field carefully before proceeding.

The compliance calendar should be your first deliverable from onboarding — it prevents every avoidable penalty:

Companies Act penalties, GST late fees, and TDS interest charges are entirely mechanical — they accrue the day after a deadline is missed, regardless of whether you were aware of the deadline. A first-year Private Limited company has more than 15 mandatory compliance deadlines across ROC, Income Tax, GST, TDS, and labour law. The Corpfy compliance calendar pre-loads all of these and sends email alerts 30 days, 7 days, and 1 day before each deadline. Complete the onboarding immediately after incorporation to activate this protection from day one.

Set up your ESOP pool during onboarding, before your first significant hire:

The optimal time to set up your ESOP pool is at incorporation — before any outside investment, when dilution is least painful and there are no investor consent requirements. Reserving 10–15% of fully diluted equity in the ESOP pool during cap table setup allows you to grant options to early engineers and key hires immediately. Waiting until Series A to establish your ESOP pool means negotiating the pool size with investors as part of the term sheet — a negotiation you will lose. The onboarding cap table module makes ESOP pool setup a 2-minute step.

Role-based access control from day one protects sensitive data as your team grows:

Many early-stage founders give all team members full admin access for convenience, then scramble to restrict access when an employee leaves or when preparing for investor due diligence. Setting up role-based access during onboarding takes less than 5 minutes and prevents the most common data security incidents — an ex-employee with full cap table access, a contractor who can see board-level financial projections, or an investor who inadvertently accesses a strategic document they weren't meant to see. Start with the principle of least privilege: give each person the minimum access they need for their role.
